We can help your child find new ways to do practical tasks if they:
- have learning disabilities
- are physically disabled
- are recovering from an illness or operation
If your child has been referred to Occupational Therapy, we may see them in your home, school or local clinic.
Self care
We’ll work with you and your child to develop techniques for everyday activities like sleeping, bathing, dressing, using the toilet and mealtimes. We might recommend ways your home can be adapted to help your child become more independent.
Play
We’ll support you to find ways to play with your child. As they get older, we’ll help them to play at home, school and in the community. We’ll also help them to make friends. For young people, we can help them to develop interests, socialise and take part in hobbies.
School work
We’ll recommend ways for you to play with your child so they can learn and experience new things. At nursery or school age, we’ll work with school staff to help them develop your child’s skills. We’ll also recommend changes to the classroom so your child can get more involved.
