Phase 1b was completed in May 2019 with the opening of a new diagnostics suite housing cardiology, breast screening and a vascular laboratory.
Work is now in progress to finalise a business case to complete redevelopment work and in the meantime, the demolition of some of the old hospital blocks is planned to start in November 2019.
The work will take several months to conclude and will open up the new building for patients, staff and visitors to see.
The areas of the old hospital that are due to be demolished have already been emptied in preparation and services have been relocated appropriately.
