I trained in medicine and psychiatry in Newcastle. In 1988, I became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and in 2007, I was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

I am a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist and have worked for many years in community mental health services. I specialise in working with people who have illnesses caused by their relationship with food.

I'm also involved in teaching and training present and future healthcare professionals. I'm Vice President of the European Board of Psychiatry and in 2018, I was awarded the President's Medal of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

The opportunity to meet and work with lots of different people and to share my passion for working with people who have mental illnesses.

Kindness. Always doing the best we can for the people who rely on our services.
