I have worked in north Cumbria for the last 23 years as an ENT Consultant. With my colleague Graham Putnam, we set up a comprehensive service for the management of head and neck cancer.
I was Director of Medical Education for 6 years, and Guardian of Safe Working for 2 years.
Nationally I have served as Chairman of the Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) in ENT, Director of Education of ENTUK and have been an examiner for the exit fellowship exam in ENT for 12 years.
I also undertake service reviews for the Royal College of Surgeons
Providing an excellent service for patients who are worried they have cancer and can be reassured, and helping patients through the diagnosis of cancer and its management.
I am proud of the excellent training we give to our trainee doctors. We have recently been shown to provide the best training in the Trust in the General Medical Council (GMC) survey.
