I've worked in Cumbria since qualifying in 1997, training and working locally as a GP until 2012.

My interest in palliative care developed during my GP training, working closely with my GP trainer and inspired by his compassion, communication skills and holistic care.  

I initially combined working in palliative care alongside general practice, but have worked solely with the west Cumbria palliative care team since 2012.

I see patients in the community, acute hospital and inpatients on Loweswater Suite specialist palliative care unit.  

I completed the Diploma in Palliative Medicine at Cardiff University in 2016.

I really enjoying the opportunity to get to know my patients, understand what is most important to them and try to help them to achieve their goals.

I feel that kindness is the most important value for healthcare professionals, whatever the situation we can always offer people kindness.
