I completed my undergraduate training at Mysore University in India and came to the UK to do my post graduate in 2000. I started work in paediatrics in 2002 after completing the Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) test.
I entered specialist training in 2007 after obtaining my Diploma in Child Health in 2005 and completed specialist training (ST3) Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) in 2008. I completed my training in general paediatrics with special interest in community paediatrics in 2013.
I went to India for family reasons for 1 year and was offered an Associate Medical Director post in the private sector which I did for 6 months before returning to the UK as a Consultant in Cumbria in 2014.
I've been here as a full time consultant ever since and enjoy the challenges that each year brings and improving the service to the community we serve.
I enjoy working with children and making a difference to their lives, however big or small. I'm a educationalist and that is my second passion.
I like to provide information to parents to cope with the challenging behaviour or challenging nature of any paediatric illness that I know well.
I'm an optimist and like people to be happy, and my profession gives me a good platform to be myself and express myself.
Respect. Respecting other's views and listening. I think doing these things complements all the other values. Respect builds trust which in turn helps shape ambition and collaboration.
I'm a team player and know one person can't do it all. Our profession itself stands for kindness. I would not have been a doctor if I were not compassionate and kind. These are just my views.
