West Cumberland Hospital
Emergency medicine
None. I love the huge variety that emergency medicine offers.
I graduated from Newcastle in 1994, and did my first 'house jobs' at West Cumberland Hospital. I then went away for a few years and completed training in general practice in Cornwall.
Both Cumbria and emergency medicine remained my passions and I returned to West Cumberland Hospital A&E in 1998 and have remained here since.
I really enjoy the variety of emergency medicine and the interaction with patients, their families and our fantastic nursing staff.
Kindness. I think a moment of kindness costs nothing, but can make all the difference to a patient or their family. My guiding principal throughout my career has been to afford people the kindness that I would like myself or my family to receive.
