About

There’s a comfortable reading room for inpatients to use on the Keswick Ward. The room contains seating and a collection of books.

Hospice at Home can visit palliative care patients to give aromatherapy treatments. Essential oils are blended for individual symptoms and are either softly massaged or inhaled. If you’d like to access the aromatherapy service, ask ward staff for details.

If you’d like a hair dresser to visit you on the ward, our ward staff can organise this for you.

Hospital chaplains are available to provide spiritual support to patients and visitors of all faiths and beliefs. You do not need to be religious or attend church to receive help from our chaplains.

A chaplain visits the wards every Wednesday to talk and listen to people. They can also be contacted by ward staff for special visits and emergencies.

Our chaplains have links with many faith communities and will always try to get an appropriate representative when asked to do so. Your own priest, imam or minister can also visit you in hospital.

A Faith Box containing books, prayer and spiritual resources is available to all inpatients. Ask ward staff if you’d like to look through it.

There’s an outdoor seating area in front of the main entrance that patients and visitors can use.

Keswick Community Hospital is a smoke free site. This means there’s no smoking allowed anywhere on the property. This includes outside entrances and in our car parks and grounds. The smoking ban applies to everyone.

If you’re an inpatient, you can get a temporary nicotine replacement. You can also use e-cigarettes and vapes outside the hospital, if you stand 10 metres away from the building.

If you’d like help to quit smoking, support is available. Visit nhs.uk/smokefree to find out more.
