Wigton Community Hospital can be accessed by road and public transport. If you’re on a low income you may be eligible for help with travel costs.
By road
From the M6 northbound:
- exit at junction 41 and take B5305 towards Wigton
- stay on the road for 13 miles until you reach Wigton town centre
- at the end of the High Street turn right onto King Street
- after 100 meters turn left onto Station Road
- at the end of the road turn left onto A595 towards Workington
- turn right onto Station Hill, following signs for the hospital
- turn right onto Cross Lane and the hospital is on your left
From the M6 southbound:
- exit at junction 42 and head towards Dalston
- stay on the road for 6 miles
- turn right into Dalston village
- on the way out od Dalston turn left towards Wigton A595
- after 1.5 miles turn left onto the A595
- at the roundabout take the 3rd exit for A596
- stay on the road for 5 miles
- turn right onto Station Hill, following signs for the hospital
- turn right onto Cross Lane and the hospital is on your left
From the A595 and A596:
- follow the A595 towards Wigton
- at the roundabout take the 3rd exit for A596
- stay on this road for 5 miles
- turn right onto Station Hill, following signs for the hospital
- turn right onto Cross Lane and the hospital is on your left
By bus
Stagecoach run buses from the surrounding area to Wigton. Use the Stagecoach website to plan your journey. Wigton Community Hospital is a 15 minute walk from the town centre.
By train
Northern Rail run trains to Wigton from Carlisle and Aspatria. Use the Northern Rail website to plan your journey. From there the hospital is a 10 minute walk. There is also a taxi rank directly outside the station.
By Patient Transport Service
This service helps eligible patients get to and from hospital appointments. It’s provided by the North West Ambulance Service. To find out if you’re eligible, contact the local booking centre on 08000 323240.
