About
There’s a comfortable Dining Room for inpatients to use on the Ellerbeck Ward. The room contains a TV, radio and a collection of books.
Hospital chaplains are available to provide spiritual support to patients and visitors of all faiths and beliefs. You do not need to be religious or attend church to receive help from our chaplains.
A chaplain visits the wards on Friday afternoons to talk and listen to people. They can also be contacted out of hours by ward staff for special visits and emergencies.
Our chaplains have links with many faith communities and will always try to get an appropriate representative when asked to do so. Your own priest, imam or minister can also visit you in hospital.
A Faith Box containing books, prayer and spiritual resources is available to all inpatients. Ask ward staff if you’d like to look through it.
The Coffee Bean café has a courtyard with seating available for patients and visitors. The courtyard is only accessible during the café’s opening hours.
Workington Community Hospital is a smoke free site. This means there’s no smoking allowed anywhere on the property. This includes outside entrances and in our car parks and grounds. The smoking ban applies to everyone.
If you’re an inpatient, you can get a temporary nicotine replacement. You can also use e-cigarettes and vapes outside the hospital, if you stand 10 metres away from the building.
If you’d like help to quit smoking, support is available. Visit nhs.uk/smokefree to find out more.
