The new £12m Alfred Barrow Health Centre is expected to open its doors to the public next month.
Construction work is coming to a close and an operational date will soon be announced.
A celebratory event is also being organised and members of the public will be invited to come along to look around the new state-of-the-art facility before it officially opens.
Once open, the Alfred Barrow Health Centre will house Abbey Road Surgery, Risedale Surgery, Atkinson Health Centre, services provided by North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (formerly known as Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust), Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (formerly known as Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust) and University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust as well as facilities for Morecambe Bay CCG, North West Ambulance Service, BAE Systems and Boots Pharmacy.
The first stages of the building becoming fully operational will be the opening of the Boots Pharmacy this weekend.
Dr Geoff Jolliffe, Barrow GP and NHS Morecambe Bay Clinical Commissioning Group Clinical Chair said:
“We’re delighted that we’ve reached this stage in the project and we’re all really looking forward to moving into this modern state-of-the-art building.
“It was announced earlier this year that Boots will be the pharmacy provider within the Alfred Barrow Health Centre and they will be opening to the public on Saturday 12 October.
“Bringing these services together under one roof is going to be hugely beneficial to the people of Barrow.”
