We can offer advice on diet and nutrition and help you manage or treat a range of conditions through dietary therapy such as:

  • allergies and intolerances
  • acute and chronic pancreatitis
  • cancer
  • diabetes
  • heart disease
  • irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • motor neurone disease (MND)
  • multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • nutritional deficiencies

We can also support you if you’re receiving tube feeding at home.

Whether you’ve been referred to us by your hospital consultant or GP, your first appointment with us will last around 30 minutes. During the appointment, we’ll discuss what brought you to our service and how you’d like us to help you. We’ll also ask you some questions about:

  • any symptoms you might have
  • your current diet
  • your medical history

We’ll then give you some advice and guidance on the changes you need to make to your diet to improve your symptoms or overall health. We might also give you a diet sheet or an individual action plan to help you achieve your goals.

If appropriate, we’ll invite you to attend a follow up appointment to see how you’re getting on. We may also refer you to other services such as Speech and Language if you’re having problems swallowing.

If you have a feeding tube, you’ll be seen by one of our acute team while you’re still in hospital. We’ll give you, your carer or a member of your family training on how to look after your feeding tube and equipment. You’ll also have support from a community dietitian and nurse.

If you have an enquiry about an appointment with us at your local GP surgery or health centre, please call them direct.
