Alston Community Hospital can be accessed by road and public transport. If you’re on a low income you may be eligible for help with travel costs.
By road
From the M6/A686:
- exit at junction 40 and take the A66 towards Brough
- at the roundabout take the 2nd exit A686 towards Alston
- follow the road for 19 miles
- as you arrive in Alston, cross the bridge
- the hospital is on your right
From the A69/A686:
- exit the A69 following signs for Whitfield and Plenmeller
- stay on this road for 17 miles following signs for Whitfield and Alston A686
- as you arrive in Alston, continue straight onto Station Road
- when you pass the Texaco garage, the hospital is on your left
From the A689:
- follow the A689 into Alston
- drive through Alston town centre
- at the Alston Town Hall junction turn left onto A686
- when you pass the Texaco garage, the hospital is on your left
By bus
Wright’s Coaches and Go North East run buses from the surrounding area to Alston. The hospital is a 5 minute walk from the town centre.
By Patient Transport Service
